Maximize your Power Mac G4 or G3 with PC-100 Maximum Speed Code (2-2-2) SDRAM DIMMs. The new "Velocity Engine" equipped G4 requires high speed memory and storage subsystems in order to process data with supercomputer performance. No matter how many millions or billions of instructions the CPU is capable of processing, the storage and memory must be able to keep up.
Excerpt from Apple Technical Info. LIbrary...

"Power Macintosh is compatible with 3-2-3 (slowest), 3-2-2, and 2-2-2 (fastest) speed codes. Power Macintosh will read the presence detect ROM for information about all the DIMMs installed in the machine, and set memory timing equal to the slowest DIMM. Therefore, for maximum performance use only 2-2-2 speed codes."

512 MB of RAM in a PowerBook?
The new 256 MB SDRAM SO-DIMM enables users to maximize main memory up to 512 MB by installing the memory module in the lower slot of the system. This memory module is compatible with PowerBooks G3 Lombard, Bronze, PowerBook 1999 or the PowerBook Wallstreet and the older iMac [233-333 Mhz] systems.
Speed is in the Details.
Typical problems with memory explained.

Delivering a high speed SDRAM memory module that remains stable overtime and sustains temperature variations is a difficult challenge for any company involved in chip design, manufacture and distribution.
New FireWire Drives offer 30 MB/s Xfer Rate

Next generation FireWire bridge chip technology fully supports ATA 100 complaint drive specs. that enable the 1394 port on the newer Macs to deliver a 30-35 MB/s data transfer rate. These drives are available in 7200 RPM speed and capacities of 75, 60, 40 and 30 GB .
