Apple iMacs 800 MHz come with 128 MB or 256 MB preinstalled in the computer. The system has two memory expansion slots. The system's main memory can be expanded up to 1 GB [One Giga-byte] maximum.
The iMac [Flat Panel] has a unique memory architecture. The user can add or change memory in the bottom user accessible memory slot; it is not recommended by Apple to access the top factory-only memory slot.
Special seals and tooling are required to access and reseal the computer successfully. If the computer is incorrectly resealed, damage to the computer will result and this damage would not be covered under warranty.
The iMac [Flat Panel] ships with 128 MB or 256 MB pre-installed in the factory-only memory slot, the user accessible memory slot is provided for the user to install additional RAM by removing the circular base plate attached to the base or the bottom of the iMac [Flat panel].
The memory boards for the factory-only memory slot and the user accessible memory slot are different in form factor.
