Maximum Memory Expansion of a PCI Macintosh
Power Macintosh 9600/9500 series and Mac clone Daystar Digital Genesis series computers have 12 memory expansion slots. The main memory of the system can be expanded up to 1.5 GB using 128 MB Memory Modules.

Power Macintosh 8600 /8500/ 7600/ 7500, Mac clones PowerComputing, Power Tower Pro series and SuperMac S900/J700 Series have 8 memory expansion slots. the main memory of the system can be expanded up to 1.0 GB using 128 MB Memory Modules.

Power Macintosh 7200 and Power Computing Power Center Pro series have 4 memory expansion slots. The main memory of the system can be expanded up to 512 MB using 128 MB Memory Modules. Some of the Mac Clones, Power Computing, Power Center series, Power Curve series, Power Tower have 4 slots on the logic board, but only support 64 MB/slot, therefore the main memory can be expanded only to 256 MB.

Other Macs or clones have 2 slots or 3 slots on board and all of them support only 64 MB/slot, except some 3 slot machines that support only 32 MB memory on their first slot, therefore the main memory can only be expanded up to 144 MB , 160 MB, or less, depending on the logic board architecture.

Go for the Maximum Memory Expansion, up to 1.5 GB
Upgrading Macs to the maximum memory expansion, depends on the number of memory slots on the logic board, Memory board density supported per slot, type of DRAM operating mode, FPM (Fast Page Mode), EDO (Extended Data Out), SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM), supply voltage of memory board, 3.3v or 5v., DRAM Refresh rate, 1Khz, 2 Khz, 4 Khz ( generic term 2k or 4k), this table gives a quick look at what is possible.
