Maximize G3 Powerbooks and iMacs with New Low Profile 256 Mb DIMMs

Main Memory Architecture:
New Apple PowerBook G3s/333-400 Mhz, older PowerBooks G3s/233-300 Mhz and iMacs have a similar main memory architecture. The system has two memory expansion slots and main memory is specified to be upgraded to a maximum of 384 MB using 256 MB SO-DIMM in the top slot and 128 MB SO-DIMM in the bottom slot. The memory expansion sockets in these systems have a height restriction for the memory modules. Top slot allow modules with a 2" height and the bottom slot allows modules with a 1.5" height. You can find the above specs on different mac related websites, Apple support pages and Powebook user manuals.

256 MB low profile SO-DIMM:
More memory density per slot is possible! Within the restricted height you can fit a Trans Intl 256 MB DIMM in each slot giving you a total of 512 MB of main memory. This exceeds Apple's original specification of 384 MB. enhancing PowerBook G3 capability by giving users desktop memory capacity.
Our 256 MB (Low Profile) memory modules conform to industry standard SDRAM SO-DIMM height specification of 1.25" or less. The memory module has standard backward compatibility.
If there is a change in future powerbook memory architecture to support only 1.25" high memory modules, then the user should be able to use our modules in that system. For example, in current PowerBook G3 models, the user can upgrade the top slot with the Low profile DIMMs and latter move it to the bottom slot. There is no additional cost premium on the Low Profile 256 MB module versus high profile 256 MB module.
